Cell Phone Request
Please show respect for your fellow guild members and those presenting programs by turning off or setting your cell phones to vibrate during meetings. Thank you.
Hospitality Donations Welcome
Lenore Hammer (Hospitality chair) suggests that if you have spare cocktail napkins, paper plates, hot drink cups, plastic spoons or forks, she would gladly receive them to use at guild meetings to save future budget expenses. Coffee drinkers should observe that Sandy Martin has started bringing ‘real’ coffee in a server to meetings so you don’t have to drink instant—unless you prefer it.
Holiday Gift Exchange
This year’s gift is to be ‘anything that is a bag’, any size, plain or sparkly, your choice. Our Community Service Project will be for Operation Breakthrough. Items are due in November, for early winter use.
Creative Hand Update
At the Fiber Guild meeting on Wednesday, June 9, we had a lively and healthy discussion about the 4 booths in the Creative Hand show. The discussion centered on the booths and the footprint they occupy compared to the floor space occupied by the various fiber departments. The majority present voted to keep the same format as last year: 4 Booth Artists pay a $50 app. fee, set up their own display and man their booth during show hours. All other Artists’ products are displayed in departments and work shifts during the show. The set-up committee chaired by Susan Hoisington and Judy Santner will work with the board to provide a set-up plan with some major revisions. The discussion at the meeting revealed many ideas about how to use the existing floor space to maximize product display. The Fashion Show and Demo areas will be reduced significantly to allow more fiber department product display. Thanks to all artists who came to the meeting and participated in the discussion. Our show will grow in a positive direction because of your input. Application forms for the Creative Hand show are available on the Fiber Guild website www.kansascityfiberguild.org (deadline is July 31). Please contact me if you have any questions. Sandy Cahill,

Sales Opportunity
The Leavenworth County Artists' Association is tentatively planning a Fiber Festival to be held on Saturday, August 21, at the Heritage Center, 109 Delaware Street, in downtown Leavenworth. It will run from 8-4 pm (set up -- from 7 am Sat. or from 2-4 pm Fri. afternoon). We are looking for vendors. The Heritage Center is roomy and is air-conditioned and they have a credit card machine to assist vendors with sales. I think that the booth fee will be $70 to cover the facility rental and the advertising costs. We need at least 20 vendors to make it break even. We already have about seven vendors who have expressed an interest. Thanks. Matt Nowak, w: 913-684-8979, h: 913-727-3871, matthewhelen@aol.com (06/10)
