Many of these events are not sponsored by the Guild, please check newspapers and websites for changes. If you have an event to list here or in our monthly newsletter, please send it to KCWG Events.

Midwest Weavers Conference

June 22-27, 2009. Note that 2009 date! The format is similar to the larger convergence, but this is a regional conference and will be held in Grinnell, Iowa. Check out the web site, www.midwestweavers.org The Midwest Weavers Association works extensively through Guilds, but spinners/weavers can join individually and receive a catalog and registration form as soon as conference arrangements are finalized.

Textile show at JCCC

Textile show at the Nerman Museum, Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, Kansas.  Historic and contemporary Rio Grande textiles created by weavers in New Mexico and southern Colorado.   The gallery will hold a festive public opening with food and drink from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on June 20.  The evening will include live music and a lecture by a textile expert at 7 p.m.  All events free to the public.

Convergence

June 22-28, 2008. This event, held every two years, is sponsored by the Handweavers’ Guild of America and draws spinners and weavers from all over the country. The event is being held in Tampa City, Florida this year, in the Convention Center. There are three days of workshops preceding the actual Convergence, which features exhibits, seminars, mini-workshops, a fashion show, and (of course) many vendors. Michigan Fiber Festival

Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17. Allegan County Fairgrounds, Allegan, MI. Another long-standing festival, this one features a variety of fiber animals as well as many vendors and workshops that begin on August 13.  www.michiganfiberfestival.info
